How to read Arabic – Basics

About Course

Prerequisites of this course:

  • Average to good knowledge about the English language.
  • Willingness to practice and to do exercises.
  • A notebook + pen

This course is meant for those who have little to no knowledge about the Arabic language and its alphabetical system. By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Identify the all Arabic letters.
  • Know the different positions of each letter.
  • Connect letters to form words.
  • Identify letters in words.
  • Turn words into separate letters.
  • Know the sound made by each letter.

 

By the end of each lesson, there is a worksheet that must be completed before proceeding to the following lesson. And by the end of this course, you will be tested in all the skills previously listed. Finishing the test with a score of 75% or higher is the recommended level for proceeding to the next step.

  • If you want to learn how to read anything in Arabic.
  • If you want to know how to read the Holy Quran.

By the end of this lesson you will: Understand the concept of three positions of Arabic letters Know how the first 7 letters of Arabic sound Know how the 4 different positions of each letter Make/ read your very first Arabic words

Letters ق – ط
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to: Recognize the letters you learned from lesson 1 + 2 Know how the letters "ط - ظ - ع - غ - ف - ق" sound Know how the 4 different positions of each letter Make/ read your first Arabic words

Letters ي – ك
By the end of this lesson, You will be able to: Recognize all the letters from lessons 1-3 and know how they sound. Know how the letters "ك - ل - م - ن - هـ - و - ي" sound Know how the 4 different positions of each letter Recognize all the Arabic alphabet

Letter Combinations
In this lesson you learn how to combine some of the most common and important combination in Arabic.

Final Exam
This is the Final Exam to test your ability to work with the Arabic Alphabet.

Thank you for compiling these courses and the help provided in the first step of this big journey,
I personally had a few difficulty as I have vision problem (myopia) to see arabic characters during the quiz it felt to small so was a bit hard to clearly differentiate letters.

It was a great course but the video in lesson 5 was a bit confusing as the vowel signs were used, which have not been presented in the course.

It was good. Easy to undersatand with short lessons. The practice at the end of each lesson was great. One thing that i wish could be added -if in the next lesson, we could get the answer of previous practice words, that would have been great. Jazak Allah for your efforts.
Was a good coure overall. Only problem was in final exam where it was asked to type in Arabic. Since I did nut have Arabic keyboard, I got 0 marks for those answers.
